4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry, housed at St. Luke’s in the Meadow, is a joint project of the Eastern Deanery of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. St. Alban’s is one of four sponsoring churches, including St. Luke’s, St. Stephen’s in Hurst, and St. Martin in the Fields in Keller. The Meadowbrook area of Fort Worth, where St. Luke’s is located, has many low-income families, and access to healthy, affordable food is an issue there. This will be the only food pantry in the area.
St. Alban’s has already sustained a strong commitment to this project, supporting the preparation in several ways:
- Financial donation provided from designated Outreach budget to purchase equipment
- Monthly “17 on the 17th” collection for food purchase from the Tarrant Area Food Bank
- Advent “Reverse Advent Calendar” food collection gathered over 400 pounds of food
- Leadership roles are filled by several St. Alban’s members
- Several members have volunteered at Tarrant Area Food Bank
YOU CAN HELP! 4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry launch is set for January 27, 2017.
The food pantry at St. Luke in the Meadow Episcopal Church, 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth 76103 is expected to be open Fridays to serve the Meadowbrook area of east Fort Worth. Help is also needed on Thursdays to stock food in preparation for distribution on Fridays.
Volunteer Coordinator Don Mayer explains,
Serving would involve about 3-4 hours of your time, 11 am to 2 pm Fridays; the pantry will assist clients from noon to 2 pm.
Thursday morning volunteers at 8:30 am will unload the incoming food delivery truck, and then stock the pantry. That should take a couple of hours.
If you are interested in being a 4Saints Food Pantry volunteer, please contact Don Mayer at email@example.com.
